Cannabis advertising in Australia receives an A$6.95 million bill

An Australian court imposed a civil penalty of A$6.5 million on CDA Clinics QLD for unlawful medicinal-cannabis advertising, with another A$450,000 for former director Benjamin Jansen. Its website, blog and Facebook worked as one shop window, promoting prescription-only and unregistered medicines, including claims about treating serious conditions. The court considered it a deliberate commercial strategy rather than a few accidental posts. The 30 October ruling concerns advertising from 2021; CDA Clinics QLD was already in liquidation by the time of the judgment.
