Canada's tills set a record, then seasonal adjustment cools it
August was a record month for Canadian cannabis stores: preliminary sales were C$520.4 million, the fourth consecutive month above half a billion. Now remove seasonal and calendar fluctuations: the figure becomes C$492 million, down 0.3% from July and up 4.4% from August last year. There is no contradiction: the first series counts actual monthly takings, while the second helps compare months without the summer boost. The August estimate is preliminary and may be revised.
