A Vermont CBD producer faces a $100,000 rethink

Vermont-based Sunset Lake Farms is reformulating and rebranding CBD products at a cost of about $100,000, marketing director Rev Baker told Seven Days. An already enacted federal law restricting THC affects about 60% of the company’s CBD range – possible amendments are still being debated while packaging already needs changing. Other local producers are taking different approaches: Sunsoil is keeping its formulations, while Upstate Elevator is still counting on a legislative fix. Each business is making its own bet on Congress, with expenses arriving well before the outcome.
